DMU student wins global final of Triumph Inspiration Awards
De Montfort University (DMU) student Sian Whitefoot has won the global final of the Triumph Inspiration Awards (TIA), hosted at Shanghai Fashion Week.
Sian, who is in her final year of DMU’s Contour Fashion course, qualified for the international event after winning the UK final with her Ecliptic Renewal design (pictured).
The TIA challenged design school students around the world to use their talent, creativity and inspiration to create a unique lingerie showpiece with a ‘Dragons and Butterflies’ theme. Each creation was then showcased to a panel of world-renowned experts across fashion, design and media to select a winner.
“I am speechless. It’s a dream come true! The months leading up to the event have been so fantastic, I have learnt enormously,” said Sian Whitefoot after winning the TIA. “I’d like to thank Triumph and the jury who gave us this amazing platform to showcase our ideas and inspirations.”
Sian will now see her showpiece developed into a commercial lingerie garment by Triumph and sold in their stores worldwide. She will also receive €15,000 prize money.
