Luxurious loungewear comes into its own this spring as Moda Boutique plays host to a range of sumptuous labels. Designed to add elements of decadence to the most relaxed of styles, each lounge label selected to exhibit on the Moda Boutique platform harbours a distinct appeal for the season ahead.
Based in North Yorkshire, Smith & Downes (pictured) specialises in kimonos, sleep shorts, lounge pants and camis – all featuring Liberty’s unique prints and all the prestige associated with the British heritage brand.
“The brand is all about effortless loungewear which epitomises English country garden chic,” says Rebecca O’Leary, who co-founded the label with Marie Neal-Smith in 2013. “We are keen to build a brand that is both Yorkshire and British in its identity, and we committed to using UK-based manufacturers.”
Making a welcome return to Boutique meanwhile is Kiku Design, the kimono label established in 1981 which is named after the Japanese word for Chrysanthemum. Made in the hills overlooking the ancient Japanese city of Kyoto, the collection brings elements of exotic Eastern glamour to the Boutique platform.
“This season’s collection is versatile and classic with a wide range of colours,” says Kunio Kashiwagi, director at Kiku. “We have included cool cottons, sumptuous silks and easycare fibres in a stunning colour spectrum so there is something to suit every mood.”
Moda Boutique continues to carve an industry niche for itself as the dedicated area for the sector’s niche labels. Situated within Moda Lingerie, Boutique brings together the rising stars of the intimate apparel world from both a domestic and global perspective.
