Having opened its doors in spring, new men’s fashion independent Verb headed to Moda Gent this summer to check out some key labels. We found out how it went for owner Lee Wardell.
Q: What’s Verb all about?
A: Supporting our great range of clothing is a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Our highly-trained staff will offer guidance and advice to customers who are seeking excellent product knowledge, high-end service and an independent shopping experience.
Q: What was the reasoning behind the location of the store?
A: Beverley in East Yorkshire is a lovely place, and we in a great location at Flemingate where customers can have a relaxing shopping experience. It’s easy to park, and customers can combine a shopping trip with something to eat or drink at one of the centre’s great cafés or restaurants.
Q: What brought you to being the owner of a stylish men’s independent?
A: I have 35 years of retail experience, and previously managed Leonard Silver Menswear in Beverley. I opened Verb with a view to bringing brands such as Florentino, Gibson London, Pearly King, Brook Taverner, Mac Jeans and Goodwin Smith Shoes to the area, within a stylish setting. The interior of Verb features leather Chesterfield seating, striking industrial light features and a display centrepiece showcasing some of the top brands available.
Q: What did you make of your first buying trip to Moda Gent?
A: My first visit to Moda was a very pleasant experience. The organisation and layout worked really well for me, and I bought what I intended to. As a new store I am growing and building relationships with the brands I am looking to stock and, over the years to come, I will keep adding to this.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: I have introduced a range of womenswear which is expanding, so I will be having a more detailed walk through the women’s ranges during my next visit to Moda.
Verb is located in the East Yorkshire town of Beverley. Check out the brand’s website here.
