Q&A: Joma Sport


Following a successful show last season, Spanish footwear label Joma Sport returns to Moda Footwear this s/s 18. Export director Gema Blanco explains how the brand has evolved from a sports specialist to a lifestyle concept. 

Q: What is Joma Sport all about? 
A: Joma was established in 1965 in Portillo de Toledo, small Spanish town close to Madrid. The brand started life as a manufacturer of soccer boots, but has since expanded to other sports and – most recently – into casual and fashion ranges.

Q: What brings the brand back to Moda Footwear? 
A: We are aiming to specifically expand the footwear side of the brand. Although we started out as a manufacturer of footwear, we are often best-known for our apparel offer. So as we arrive into the UK, we are looking to promote the strength of our shoe offer in particular. 

Q: What does the spring offer comprise? 
A: A wide variety of models across the men’s, women’s and children’s categories. A key focus is our offer of retro leather casual shoes; Spanish design inspired by the '80s to which we have applied the ultimate technology.

Q:What sort of presence does the brand already have in the UK? 
On the footwear side, mainly sports specialist up until now. However our appeal goes beyond this and we would like to build upon our presence with our wider lifestyle offer. 

Q: What can you offer footwear buyers this season? 
A: The brand has a wide variety of products and designs with great value for money, and we offer an efficient delivery service in 72 hours from our headquarters warehouse.
