ECCO makes a welcome return to Moda Footwear this season, bringing with it a highly-tuned selection of shoes crafted to the highest standards of Danish design. Regional account manager Kris Lockney reveals more. 

Q: Welcome back to Moda Footwear – what are you hoping to achieve at this show this time? 
A: This will be our third time at Moda Footwear, and it’s our chance to present ECCO within the context of the direction in which we are heading. ECCO is known as a comfortable brand, but actually we’re also very innovative, with a keen focus on our soles and premium leathers. ECCO is constantly moving forward with new innovations and relevant styles in premium materials; we have styles to accommodate all aspects, including sport, formal, outdoor, and casual. We would like to highlight that more, as well as of course attracting new customers. 

Q: What is ECCO’s point of difference? 
A: We own the complete value chain. We have our own designers, tanneries, factories and stores, and continually strive for the best. This means investing a lot in new technologies and leather development, and maintaining our reputation for outstanding comfort and Danish design.

Q: How have the past few seasons been for you? 
A: The last two seasons have been amazing for us. The brand has really achieved the right product and the right price build, and has become a must-see within the industry. At the moment, we have over 350 partners and 40 mono-brand stores in the UK, as well as a global presence in roughly 92 countries. 

Q: How have you retained the brand’s identity in light of such rapid extensive growth? 
A: Our distribution has expanded over the years to many more markets. We’re now a well-known, worldwide brand. But still, we’re very proud to remain a family company and own the complete value chain, and to still have our head office in Bredebro where it was established in 1963. 

Q: How do you support your retail partners? 
A: ECCO keeps investing into our factories, tanneries and our own stores, but also in promoting the brand in general via advertisement and promotion. ECCO is a sustainable company and we’re continuously seeking for improvements.  

Q: Who is the ECCO consumer? 
A: Our customer can be any age or gender. We offer shoes from infant through to adult to customers seeking premium footwear. Customers rely on our high quality leathers and innovative and comfortable shoes. Over the years, ECCO has proven itself to be a reliable and quality brand, and that’s what keeps customers coming back for more.
