Founded on a simple premise nearly 30 years ago, Dante has become a jewel in the crown of the accessories industry. Here managing director Jane Gaulter explains why Moda Woman continues to be an integral part of the brand’s success.
Q: How was Moda Woman for you last month?
A: We really enjoyed the show. Moda has such a friendly and upbeat atmosphere, and we love catching up with our agents and customers – some of whom have become really good friends.
Q: Did you achieve the business you were hoping to achieve?
A: Moda exceeded our expectations. We had a really good show from a financial point of view, opening several new accounts both at the show, and in the weeks that followed. The majority of buyers at Moda are there to actually place orders, so the stand is effectively a showroom for three days.
Q: What prompted you to make an early commitment to the February edition of the show?
A: There was no reason not to. Moda is a really good show for us, because we offer such a broad range of jewellery to complement womenswear, from casual to classic to more niche sectors, like Mother of the Bride – and all of those buyers are at Moda Woman. This time around, we would like to meet some more of the southern buyers who have attended Moda in the past, so that they can see how Dante has evolved and changed. Brochures are okay – but it’s not the same as actually seeing the jewellery.
Q: What’s in store for the next collection?
A: We can guarantee there will be lots of colour and some unusual pieces within our s/s 18 offer.
Q: What is the essence of the Dante label?
A: The idea has always been to provide good-quality, well-priced fashion jewellery to independent retailers. That is backed by excellent customer service, a sharp eye on fahion and colour trends, proven classics and the experience to know what works. Not many fashion jewellery companies can say that they are over 25 years old, so a big thank you to all of our customers who have made that possible.
Dante will be back at Moda Woman on 18-20 February next year. Find out more about the label here in the meantime.
