Moda Footwear exhibitor Padders has extended its support to one of its most avid supporters; Blake the Buddy Dog. As a resident in Kingsley Special Academy in Kettering, Northamptonshire, Blake is frequently brought on board at Groococks – Padders’ dedicated children’s outlet in Kettering – to assist with the shoe-fitting process.
“The school relies on donations to help with Blake’s care and upkeep,” says Sophie Borrett, Padders sales representative. “So to say thank you for all the help that Kingsley has given Padders in making the shoe-fitting process easier for children with autism, we held a raffle for £100 of Groococks vouchers and raised an amazing £400.”
Blake the Buddy Dog was undergoing training to become a guide dog, but changed direction to become a resident buddy dog at Kingsley Special Academy. Blake’s soothing effect on children on the autistic spectrum has seen him become valued “member of staff” both at the school and within the wider Kettering community.
