Independent footwear retailer and Moda visitor Amy Steventon received a $5000 prize last week in recognition of her Art window display. The owner of NooShoos in Clitheroe is the first-ever UK winner of the competition, which is hosted annually by Spanish footwear brand the Art Company.
Steventon’s accolade is made all the more impressive by the fact that she only started trading in spring last year. She fought off competition from Art stockists all over Europe with her themed window display, which stated “Earth without Art is just eh”.
“I always take pride in my window displays,” says owner Amy Steventon. “But having only begun trading six months ago, I am over the moon about winning the contest.”
Along with the $5000 prize money, Steventon also received a unique pair of Art shoes, created by Spanish designer David Elfin. Art’s UK distributor Rob Sewell congratulated Steventon on her achievement.
“This is the first time that a UK store has won first prize,” he says. “Nooshoos was up against many stores from around the world, some of which have huge window display budgets, and Amy fought off competition from runners up in Italy, Belgium and France.”
Art is a regular exhibitor at Moda Footwear, and unveiled its a/w 17 offer at last month’s exhibition.
