Lingerie buyers from all over the country have reported that last week’s Moda Lingerie was the perfect fit in terms of the calibre of exhibitors, convenience and presentation. Praising the exhibition for its professional atmosphere and inspirational showcase of labels, retailers cited the show as an essential date on the exhibition calendar.
“I would recommend anyone in the industry to attend Moda because it is still the biggest and best for lingerie with the added bonus of a swimwear and accessories offer,” says Kim Roberts, owner of Aphrodite Lingerie in Preston, Lancashire. “I find it so helpful to see lots of brands in one place, enabling me to find the specifics I am looking for as well as placing orders for new brands that I discover at the show.”
Fellow independent retailer Nancy Nelson – director at Eastbourne-based boutique Sobriquet – agrees that the exhibition inspired her to place orders beyond the brands she specifically had in mind ahead of attending the event.
“The catwalk show inspired me to approach a new label; Smith & Downes, which was showing its Liberty collection for the first time,” says Nelson. “I also discovered a fabulous range of swimwear at Gottex, the November delivery for which will be perfect for my ladies who cruise. I liked the swimwear by Lise Charmel, and the practical solutions offered by Fashion Forms, which will make for a good add-on purchase for my prom and bridal customers. I also found a brilliant sports bra collection by Anita – it was an all-round successful buying trip.”
For other retailers meanwhile, the show’s location and position as the national industry event offered an opportunity above and beyond product to interact with like-minded, business professionals.
“We find that the show is very good for networking with new and old acquaintances,” says Sian Lloyd, owner of Awens Lingerie in Carmarthen, Wales. “We enjoyed the show very much this season – not least because it is ideally-placed and so easy to get to – and we placed our first order with Panache [pictured] which we are very excited about.”
Moda Lingerie & Swimwear will return to the NEC on 21-23 February 2016.
