Moda’s seminar programme is a highlight of the show, helping visitors to get ahead in business with the help of experts in their field. Over the next two weeks, Moda will introduce each speaker as part of its Meet the Speakers series, allowing buyers to prepare for the exhibition above and beyond the business of buying. Today, e-commerce expert Dan Conboy is in the spotlight.
As an independent retailer, how do you feel about taking your business online? It makes sense to open up your customer base to a national audience, but competing on the same playing field as the high street multiples can be daunting.
As the founder of Statement Agency, Dan Conboy is no stranger to guiding independent retailers through the potential pitfalls of e-commerce. Complementing their fashion know-how with his own digital expertise, he has helped businesses in a variety of fields find their niche within the biggest marketplace in the world.
On paper, Dan Conboy is a force to be reckoned with. Prior to launching Statement in 2010, he worked with global brands including Philips and OSRAM, and also lectured at Leeds University business school. He has spoken at the Houses of Parliament, and has been awarded numerous business accolades including being shortlisted for the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, and being selected as one of Insider Magazine’s 42 under 42.
In person however, he is an approachable down-to-earth Yorkshireman with a desire to help small businesses replicate and develop their business model online.
