Footwear retailers have revealed that the new season is off to a strong start as autumn collections arrive in store. Buyers who committed to collections at Moda’s February edition this year have described how brands have already exceeded their expectations despite the mild weather.
“My favourite brand Fly London is one that I always order at Moda and this year, it has really excelled itself,” says Sarah Decent, owner of Modish Shoes with branches in Cambridge and Saffron Walden, Essex. “Despite the sweltering start to the season, I have already sold ten of my 12 pairs of the black and pewter ankle boot, and I have a waiting list for the next 12 pairs on order.”
Fellow independent retailer Andrew Marshall has also experienced strong sell-through with Fly London, as well as Mjus, Tamaris and Softinos.
“Some styles have hit over 50 per cent sell-through already,” says the owner of Strolling 4 Shoes, a mini-chain with brands throughout Cumbria. “Our newly-introduced brand Maciejka from Poland has also been well-received over the past two weeks. The whole season this time feels like it is about something different, and not just the same old winter boots and shoes.”
Buyers are now looking ahead to the a/w 17 edition of Moda Footwear, which will return to the NEC on 19-21 February. Keep up to date with the brands already confirmed for the event over on Pinterest.
