  • Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plans
Central to QuayStones ethos is to step as lightly on the planet as possible and to bring awareness of environmental issues such as sea pollution, coastal erosion and species decline through our designs.
    Sustainability initiatives
From the start we have used reclaimed metals to make our jewellery and ensure all our products are hallmarked for quality. We use found and reused objects in our designs and in the point of sale supplied to new customers. Our packaging has been chosen for its eco-friendly credentials and we reuse and recycle as much as we can.
    Pledges for the year
We would like to reduce our carbon foot print further and will be looking at ways to save energy and time in production and supply. To this end we have invested in smelting equipment to reuse in house all the scrap metal generated in production.
    Sustainable Products
    Strata jewellery collection
The Strata jewellery collection, cast from reclaimed silver, was designed to highlight coastal erosion as the pieces were based on the vanishing rock formations that can be found along the Northumbrian coast.
    Recycled silver jewellery
QuayStones currently buys all it’s silver from suppliers that use reclaimed metal and from 2024 we will be smelting our own scrap silver to reuse in sheet and cast form. As always every piece will have a full Edinburgh office assay mark as a guarantee of metal purity.
    Sea glass Jewellery
We have always collected sea glass on our walks and now we are using this in our designs. Because of the nature of this material every piece of our sea glass jewellery is unique.
    AT THE FAIR
    Social equity at your company
QuayStones is very invested in the community of their town and is regularly involved in local events such as fund raising and beach clean ups.
