Westfield Stratford City opens its doors

Europe’s largest shopping centre, Westfield Stratford City, opened its doors last week, attracting over 100,000 shoppers to the area.

The shopping centre was officially declared open by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, on Tuesday 13th September at an estimated cost of £1.45bn. It is expected to attract shoppers from across Britain and abroad to this part of East London, great news for local independents as well as those retailers within the complex.

Footfall at the shopping centre and surrounding area is also expected to increase next summer as the complex is ideally located in Stratford, the gateway to the London Olympics.

Westfield Stratford City features a mix of both high street and designer labels including department stores John Lewis and Marks & Spencer.
